DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz).

What are the benefits? Dermaplaning gives your skin an immediate exfoliation for a luminous glow and smoother texture. It is also said to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase skincare absorption, and make makeup application smoother and easier.

Is Dermaplaning safe? Performed by a licensed and experienced esthetician, there is no more risk from dermaplaning than if a man where to shave his face.

How often can this procedure be performed?

Because dermaplaning removes about 3 weeks of accumulated dead skin cells, it’s best to wait about 3-4 weeks between treatments.

What can I expect?

The procedure is painless and there is no associated downtime. Makeup can be applied immediately afterwards. The use of sunscreen is strongly recommended to prevent hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin).

Why doesn’t the hair grow back thicker?

Peach fuzz is the fine translucent hair that you can see if you look closely at a woman’s face. This type of hair, also called vellous hair, is very different from the coarser hair you see on the head and under the arms. Because vellous hair is so fine, it is not possible that it will grow back thicker.

Who can benefit? This is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant, lactating, or clients who cannot have chemical peels. If you have active acne or dark facial hair, please avoid this procedure!

*This is NOT a facial - it's just the treatment.
